枝垂れ咲きのラン Weeping orchid

暑いですね。

こんなに毎日暑い日が続くと人はぐったりしてしまいますが、熱帯の植物はとても元気です。今日は温室内に開花中のランをご紹介しますね。

It's hot.

People get tired when it gets hot like this every day, but tropical plants are very healthy.

We would like to introduce orchids that are blooming in the greenhouse.

リンコスティリス　レツサ　Rhynchostylis retusa

Foxtail Orchid

ひとつひとつは小さな花ですが、透明感のある白にピンク色の斑点が入り非常に美しいグラデーションになっています。下垂して咲く様子が、舞妓さんの花かんざしのようでとてもきれいですね。英名では、キツネのしっぽのように枝垂れて咲く様子から、フォックステール・オーキッドと呼ばれるそうです。また、スリランカなどの熱帯アジアでは切手にもなっているとか。

Each flower is small, and it has a very beautiful gradation with translucent white and pink spots.

The appearance of the flowers hanging down is like a maiko's hair accesory, and it's very beautiful.

It is called Foxtail Orchid in the English name because it looks like a fox's tail weeping and blooming.

Also, it is used for the stamp design in Sri Lanka.
